Geert Jonkers is audiomachinist: sound artist, performer and builder of mechanical works. His work is a personal blend of kinetic sculpture, sound experiment and performance. As self-made man he built 20 years of experience in making sound performances and mechanical objects. Works can vary between a musicbox with polka-clapping art teethings, to landscape instruments of 400 square meters. Geerts fascination lies in the combination of objects which live their own life and acoustic sound. His objects are ment to experience physically by any audience. It's undoable to define his work in a single arts discipline: Sculpture, music and envrironmental art all merge in a personal, explicit signature.
The latest works of audiomachinist ('64) behold installations and objects which reach for a very broad audience: as land art sculpture in museums and theme exhibitions, as sound phenomena in performances and pop music stages or as miniature concert at any street corner. Geert initiates most of his projects in different settings: as artistic director of Odd Enjinears Amsterdam, as musician / performer of the three-piece band BOT, and as independent artist commissioned by a variety of arts collectives and cultural organisers.
