De Rode Draad
Sixteen gears (4 by 4) all have the same amount of teeth and hence the same speed. The gears all have a bolt to which a pattern is constructed using a red thread. The wire is attached to the bolts of the upper gears and hangs down over the others where it is kept taut by three weights. As the gears rotate the pattern changes shape slowly. © All images, texts and the idea of the artists work are subject to the German copyright law and if pro rata the relevant collecting society and if pro rata the photographer.
