Area 51
"Area 51" is a hanging wind sculpture. The name "Area 51" comes from a secret government test site located in the Nevada desert where people claim to have seen UFOs. Many of the parts that make up this sculpture are historical in nature. The weathered sheet metal used to construct the paddles and main body came from a very old billboard that once stood in the Nevada desert. The rusty paddle springs are from a ghost town. The old wire is from Nevada's Black Rock Desert. The large diameter wire that is the axle of this piece is from an old telegraph line. © All images, texts and the idea of the artists work are subject to the German copyright law and if pro rata the relevant collecting society and if pro rata the photographer.
